1. Why Elizabeth Arden?
I’ve been with the brand for a year now, working mainly behind the scenes, experimenting with the products and being involved in training. I love the heritage and I think the Arden message is still relevant today because ‘to be beautiful (and feel beautiful) is the birthright of every woman’. I also love how the products have evolved over the years and how we are doing more now to be on trend, but still remain true to the heritage of simple sophistication.
2. Best part of my job is…
Interacting with people and transforming women. I feel so good when a woman looks at herself in the mirror and is pleased by what she sees, when she really feels beautiful. I also love teaching and empowering women to make themselves look and feel more beautiful, and give them that confidence.
3. Must-have of the moment
A natural matte foundation.
4. The beauty tip I swear by…
I’m obsessed with skin… flawless skin. But it’s a misconception that a lot of foundation automatically equals flawless. I believe in applying less. Foundation first and only then conceal if and where you need to. You must look beautiful, not your make-up.
5. Best budget buy
Foundation, but a really good one. It may not be cheap initially, but a good quality foundation, applied correctly, can last a long time.
By applying foundation using a brush, you will save on the amount of product applied because a small pump goes a long way when you are able to blend and buff it into the skin with a good brush.
It also ensures more even application, which means it will last longer on your skin throughout the day. That’s another reason I love Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24HR Makeup SPF15 (R365) – it just lasts so well! It’s available from mid-April in 8 shades so keep an eye out for it!
6. My celeb beauty inspiration is…
Kim Kardashian, Tyra Banks and our local girl Zonke Dikana. They are all beautiful, driven and entrepreneurial.
7. Pet hate
Barely-there brows. I love beautiful eye brows and believe they should look full and groomed, but still natural. Brows are such a strength. When I see women with impossibly thin, drawn-on brows who look like they stepped off the set of Memoirs of a Geisha, I think ‘no!!!’. Try the new Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Natural Eye Brow Pencil in Brownette (R175) for gorgeous brows, the easy way.
8. Favourite splurge
Shoes! I love loafers – the kind I can either dress up or down – and I splurge online with Hèrmes loafers. I have six pairs, which I really consider an investment because of their quality but I dread the day the soles finally burn out from overuse!
9. I’m happiest when…
I’m close to the ocean. Just seeing it gives me such a feeling of peace and I can stand there staring at it, totally amazed. It’s very deep to me. It gives me a sense of renewal.
10. In my make-up bag right now
♥ EA Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector (R260). These multi-tasker is amazing. Use it to conceal, highlight and even shape lips and brows.
♥ EA Beautiful Color Moisturizing Matte Lipstick in Nude (R220). I love this colour and the finish is gorgeous. It’s already really hydrating to lips.
♥ EA Foundation Brush (R265). I believe there is a brush for everything and this is one of my favourites to make foundation apply smoother and last longer, both on the skin and in the bottle.
♥ EA Beautiful Color Lash Enhancing Mascara (R220). I also love to use a nearly clean mascara wand to shape and tame brows too.
♥ Baby oil. It’s just such a versatile product – good to add shine to hair, sheen to legs and body and great for shoots.
