Ward off those winter chills as you set sail on cool, azure waters and enjoy a summer at sea with Chanel’s Collection Méditerranée. Bon voyage beauties!
Inspired by one of Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite destinations, the Riviera (Italian for coastline) this striking new collection takes its key colour palette from the azure waters of the Mediterranean, the golden gleam of its perfectly tanned beach-goers and the fiery red of the summer sun.
Both a haven of peace and a new space of freedom,
the Riviera of the Roaring Twenties was a favourite destination
of Gabrielle Chanel. Contemplating the Mediterranean,
the eye wanders as far as the shores of Italy
and time approaches a standstill in the clear air.
Under the blue Riviera sky, skin is tanned and style is casual.
Between sunny getaways and dips in the sea,
summer brings with it a new lifestyle,
far from Paris and the rue Cambon; close to nature.
The CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio
extends the memories of the season with a vibrant collection
immersed in azure blue and infused with light.
There are four gorgeous looks with this new collection, my favourite of which is the Allegria, boasting red hot lips and nails, and a simply striking bronze and purple eye look.

♥ Skin Chanel Création Exclusive Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder (LE) (R870)
It’s not every day that Chanel launches a Med-inspired collection and, being my most sought-after and most visited destination to escape to, I felt so inspired by the beautiful new make-up items. It was also quite a coincidence that shortly after receiving these products I was setting sail on a little journey of my own on a cruise from Cape Town to Venice, Italy. The trip presented the perfect opportunity to get creative and pay homage to these incredible make-up items in the way in which they were truly intended to shine – against the sparkling, azure waters of the Mediterranean and under the heat of a glorious, golden sun.
The highlight (if you’ll pardon the perfectly pretty pun) of this new collection is Chanel’s latest – and without a doubt most beautiful – exclusive creation to date, Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder.
This limited edition palette of perfection simply radiates summer charm: from the intricately carved camelia motif (Coco’s signature bloom) and its impossibly fine shimmering bronze particles, to the soft, compact applicator brush all housed in a little travel-friendly velvet pouch.
Glide the brush lovingly across the top of the powder (if you dare, it’s hard to ruin such a beautiful design) and apply it in soft, sweeping motions along your cheekbones and across your forehead to impart summer shine and light bronzey glow in all the right places.
Tip Brush a bit over your collarbones and chest bone if you’re sporting a low-cut top. You can even add a touch to your eyelids for a barely-there bronzed look.
The balmy texture is a total dream to apply and wears beautifully, and while most of the Coco Shine lipsticks have a fairly sheer finish, this one is a lot more intense and perfect for a loud-mouth look.
I love easy, effortless beauty, especially when I’m on holiday because no one wants to spent their down-time primping and preening for hours. However, we do still want the result and to look gorgeous wherever we go. Chanel’s Stylo Eyeshadow (R440) makes it a breeze to get glorious statement eyes in seconds, which is good news for girls like me who haven’t the time for blending.
And because it’s so easy to apply (seriously, you literally wave it over skin and it gives the most beautiful, shimmering colour with a soft, barely-there texture) you have the time to get a little creative by pairing your favourite shades for the perfect holiday look. Try Campanule and Caroube or Azulejo and Olivine.
Tip Choose your favourite shade and sweep it across the eyelid close to the lash line for a quick slick of carefree eyeliner. You can also apply it all over the lid and blend using your fingertips for a more full-eyed look. You need such a little bit of product that one of these will last forever, making it a real bargain in the long-run. Best part? It’s not going to get crushed or spill powder all over your handbag.
I must admit, I have rather an obsession with Chanel nail polish. I’ve collected my fair share of colours over the years and still get excited at the prospect of a pretty new hue to add to my little collection. Reds are always a favourite because I am rarely seen without a bright red pedicure and during this holiday I took the time to give my fingernails a paint too using Chanel Le Vernis in Coquelicot (R355). There are also three other shades in the collection, two of which you’ll see below and the third (a daring purple) can be found here.
