It’s exactly one month until Christmas and time to feast your eyes on a a fabulous new festive make-up collection – Collection Plumes Précieuses de Chanel.
Created by the CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio, this Christmas collection was inspired by the beauty and wispy softness of a feather. It takes flight in the form of eight beautiful make-up items, comprising subtle shades embellished with gold and silver. Take a look at the Chanel video to see this new look above in motion.
I was sent six of the beautiful make-up items in this new collection to try out myself and, while each is of course very beautiful, there are three that I’ve really fallen in love with – the Exclusive Creation and the fiery red lipstick and nail polish.
♥ Chanel Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder (R750). Chanel always shows off a hero product – their Exclusive Creation – in each of their seasonal collections, and this time they’ve really outdone themselves. How could anyone’s heart not skip a beat – or several – when looking at this little piece of make-up heaven? It’s simply sublime and shows off the brand’s signature camellia flower, using a feather motif, in an incredible new light. And speaking of light, if you’re looking to adorn your skin this festive season with a touch of glamorous illumination, look no further. The precious, platinum shimmering powder illuminates skin in the most beautiful way. Apply it using the silky, slanted Chanel applicator brush along the tops of the cheekbones, browbones and décolleté. It’s also beautiful swept all over the eyes for a soft, shimmering look.
♥ Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Caresse (R590). Add a touch of colour to your look with a brush of this peachy powder on the apples of your cheeks. For a youthful glow, sweep it along the cheekbones and upwards towards the end of the eyebrows, following a C-shape. You can also use it on the eyelids for a soft, feminine eye look paired with two coats of black mascara.
Lips and Nails
♥ Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Flamboyante (R495). This lipstick has the most incredibly creamy texture I have ever experienced, and boy have I tried a lot of lipsticks. It’s a dream to apply and to wear throughout the day, and I love that it doesn’t require the application of a lip balm beforehand to keep lips soft. This fiery red shade, containing mother-of-pearl particles, has a velvety finish that’s the perfect combination of matte and luminous, just as the name suggests. One click releases the golden tube and a twist of the fingers reveals the perfect red bullet within.
♥ Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Phénix (R355). To match your power pout to your nails, apply two coats of this attention-seeking colour to your nails. I particularly love it on toes as I adore the look of a beautiful pedicure topped off with a bold red polish.
♥ Chanel Les 5 Ombres de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette in Oiseaux de Nuit (R805). If eye shadow is your thing, you’ll be eager to get your hands on this five-shaded wonder. You can use it to create a number of different eye looks from silver and gold, to subtle and smokey, and with a combination of satin or shimmer finishes. It comes with two applicator brushes with three soft sponge-tipped heads and one compact eyeliner brush head.
Tip Apply the absolute black shade all along the lash line to intensify the eyes. If you prefer something softer, use the intense grey hue instead. Then apply the antique gold on the inner corners of the eyes and in the middle of the eyelid on the ball of the eye. Finish off by applying the silver white shade underneath the brow bone for illumination. The shimmering lavender grey shade is also beautiful to use for a softer all-over eye look in combination with the intense grey.
♥ Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Or Blanc (R365). This waterproof and smudge-resistant liner boasts a glimmering pale gold shade that can be used to accent the eyes. It has a retractable tip, an integrated sharpener and a creamy texture, which makes it a pleasure to use anywhere on the delicate eye area. Apply it all along the outside of the eyes for an intense look or along the waterlines to create a more bright-eyed appearance (brilliant for days when you’re a little tired from all the festive partying). I like to apply it on the inner corners of my eyes, extending slightly along the bottom lash lines and blended 1/3 of the way along the upper lash lines for illumination.
