Selfies certainly seem to be taking over the world, one snap at a time, and the latest nail collection for the summer season is all about creating the perfect selfie – get ready to snap away with the new Morgan Taylor Selfie Collection.
The hot new summer collection is all about perfecting your summer selfie look with vibrant shades to help capture and show off all those amazing summer moments. The collection includes six new shades (R149 each, or R266 for a Mini 4-pack):
♥ All About The Pout ♥ Me, Myself-ie and I ♥ Pretty as a Pink-ture ♥
I received three of the new shades to try out and had so much fun playing with the colours:
♥ Pretty as a Pink-ture This is very much an electric/neon pink hue so don’t be fooled by the official shade swatches above. If you look at the pictures I took, you’ll get a much closer understanding of just how bright this pink is (although even my pics don’t show up its true lumo nature). It’s not for the feint-hearted, but if you’re looking to grab attention (which, let’s be honest, is half the point of a selfie) you’ll love this beauty.
♥ All About The Pout The moment I saw this peachy coral crème I knew I would become obsessed. Isn’t this just the perfect shade for Summer (and Spring too)? It makes any skin tone pop and makes mine in particular look far more tanned, which is a huge bonus when the sun is not your friend (sidebar: no one should be friends with the sun, regardless of skin tone). I love it on fingernails but I simply adore it on toes. If toe-selfies were a thing, this colour would be rocking them!
♥ Best Face Forward If you’re wondering if this shade is in any way similar to Lace ‘Em Up (from the Great Ice-Scape Winter Collection) you can be forgiven for thinking it might be. At first glance, it also appears to be a deep midnight blue, but paint it on your nails and you’ll quickly see the magic happen. It’s has accents of neon purple (which sadly don’t show up that well in this picture) and a beautiful sparkle that makes for a truly striking manicure.
FYI You’ll want at least two coats for All About The Pout to prevent a streaky finish, but you can get away with one thicker coat of Best Face Forward if you’re pressed for time. However, two coats really bring out the sparkle beautifully. Pretty As A Pink-Ture also needs two coats to make it pop and has a fairly flat finish until you apply a top coat for a glossy sheen. For a more retro look that’s perfect for summer festivals, lose the top coat and rock it on its own, but bear in mind it’s not going to last very long without one. Your best option is to use a matte top coat to protect it, while still keeping the trendy finish.
I’m certainly not brave enough to even attempt one of these six creative nail looks but I know a few nail technicians who would love to try their hand at mastering one of these. My favourites are #LOL (3) and All Me, All The Time (5).
