Essie Summer 2015 Nail Collection

Essie Summer 2015 Nail Collection

Summer at last! We haven’t had a particularly cold or long winter this year, but it’s been such a busy one that I’ve been longing for these glorious long days filled with sunshine, yummy fresh fruits, cool cocktails, dips in the ocean, walks along the shore and mini weekend breaks to local destinations.

Essie’s new Summer Collection embodies everything summer means with pretty new nail colours to match your every mood, occasion and summer-loving outfit.

It’s time to get ready and Pret-a-Surfer. Sunny highlights, a breezy dress and some chic Sunset Sneaks is all you need to transform yourself into a Peach Side Babe. Will you get whisked away for a Private Weekend on the estate? Or enjoy a simple stroll on the boardwalk? Wherever you go, never miss a chance to indulge in a piece of Saltwater Happy or a scoop of Chillato, before summer melts away.

Brush basics

Aside from the six stunning new shades, I am in love with these nail polish brushes. I’ve tried several shades on in the last few weeks and I’ve marvelled at how easy they have been to paint neatly and precisely. The thin brush makes it a breeze to get right up close to cuticles, but it still fans out beautifully to coat a decent area of nail. It’s no one stroke wonder – this one is built for precision, which makes it ideal for brighter shades that require patience and perfection.

Check out my favourites shades, as well as new products that’ll take nails from drab to fab in one coat.

Something Bright

You really cannot go wrong by wearing a bold red hue on fingers or toes and the bright crimson Sunset Sneaks is just so divine.

Something Mellow

Forget happy sunshine yellows and keep things chilled out with Chillato. It needs about three coats for a solid finish. I also love it on toes for a summer pedicure.

Something Cool

My favourite hue in the collection is the cool Atlantic-blue called Saltwater Happy. It’s beach-ready in a bottle and looks glorious on fairer skin tones.

Gloss over it

Two of the latest launches from Essie include a polish refresher and gel-like top coat.

Essie Second Shine Around Polish Refresher is my go-to to make my nail polish look fresh and glossy a few days after a manicure. It’s especially lovely to use on long-wearing polishes and home gel nail colours that tend to last longer than regular polish. Mostly my regular nail polish never lasts more than a few days anyway, but if it dulls a bit a quick coat of this beauty is all it takes to brighten things up again.

Essie Gel-Setter Top Coat is the brand’s first top coat with acrylates copolymer in the formula, a technology that adds a glossy, protective anti-chip coating to any nail polish – no curing required. That’s also why it’s easy to remove as you would any normal nail polish, without having to worry about the complicated process of removing gel nail polish.
