As part of their 80th celebrations, Lancôme invited their International Retail and Education Make-up Director, German Moyano to teach us a thing or two about creating some of the brand’s Effortless French Chic looks.
The three Effortless French Chic looks are Working Day, Natural and Glamorous. He chose these looks to suit the lifestyles of South African women, and each can be adapted to suit either a fair, medium or dark skin tone. I loved the simplicity of the natural look but couldn’t resist a bit of a glamorous eye and took the opportunity to learn from the best about eye shadow application.
Get The Look
♥ First, prep skin with Visionnaire LR 2412 4% – Cx Advanced Skin Tone Corrector (R860). The name’s a mouthful but the benefits are numerous (think smoothing wrinkles, minimising pores, refining texture and hydrating skin). You can also add a drop of La Base Pro (R520) as a primer.
♥ Use a lightweight foundation with a dewy or luminous finish such as Teint Miracle SPF15 (R535). Tap it on lightly using your fingertips or apply it using a foundation brush for more coverage.
♥ Enhance your cheeks using a touch of Blush Subtil in Pépite de Corail or Sorbet Corail (R510).
German’s Top Tip Tap the product from the brush onto your hand before applying it to avoid transferring too much pigment onto your cheeks. This is especially important with strong colours.
♥ Add a healthy, golden glow to your skin using the new Belle de Teint Natural Healthy Glow Sheer Blurring Powder (R599). I’m in love with this new powder! It comes in four shades and it smells like a beautiful floral-honey! It contains caffeine to awaken tired skin, fine oils rich in antioxidants and is infused with rose petal powder for a healthy, radiant glow. A definite must-have to keep your complexion warm and radiant for the next few months.
♥ Shape your eyebrows neatly and naturally using a good quality eyebrow pencil like Le Crayon Sourcils (R340) in a shade that best compliments your natural brow and hair colour. Make sure the colour you use is no more than two shades darker than your own brow colour or the result with not seem natural. This is without a doubt the best eye brow pencil I have ever had the pleasure of using. It’s provides completely effortless application, which I find difficult with most brow pencils that are too hard or waxy to create an easy, natural finish.
German’s Top Tip If you are going to be applying eye make-up, use a product like Génefique Yeux Light-Pearl Eye-Illuminating Youth Activator (R815) on the eye contour beforehand. This will just help to hydrate, smooth and brighten up the eye area before make-up.
♥ For this look, I used Hypnôse Star Eyes 5 Color Palette Sculpted Eyes in Kaki Chic (R650). I love the combination of earthy and moss-like tones and you can make them sheer or intense. The palette also comes with an easy-to-follow guide that shows you where to apply each of the five shades to create the look you desire. Perfect for people like me who aren’t adept at applying eye shadow.
German’s Top Tip To freshen up or intensify mascara during the day without causing it to clump and flake, use a liquid eyeliner and dot it in between the lashes to create fullness on the base. Then sweep it up along the lashes to make them blacker. Try it with Liner Plume in Black (R340).
♥ Lastly, add a sweep of natural lipstick or press it onto lips using your fingertips for a softer finish. I used Rouge in Love in Beige Dentelle (R325). If you prefer a more natural gloss finish, glide Gloss in Love in Just Strass or Peach Show (R315) onto your lips.
