Morgan Taylor’s The Great Ice-scape + GIVEAWAY

Morgan Taylor’s The Great Ice-scape + GIVEAWAY

What would winter be without an ice-cold nail collection to dazzle us? All your Frozen fantasies are sure to come to life with the new Morgan Taylor The Great Ice-scape Collection.

The wintery new collection was inspired by figure-skating and if you’ve ever been to see something like Swan Lake or Disney on Ice as a child, I know you’ll appreciate the icy allure. The collection includes six new shades (R149 each) and of course the names are as sharp as ever:

 ♥ N-ice Girls Rule ♥ Figure 8s & Heartbreaks ♥ Ice Queen Anyone? ♥

♥ Lace ‘Em Up ♥ Flirt in a Skating Skirt ♥ Hey, Twirl-Friend! ♥

And for all those who love a long-lasting manicure or pedicure, the entire collection is also available in matching Gelish hues so you can enjoy your favourite wintery shade for even longer.

The Great Ice-Scape Gelish

Ice, Ice Baby

I received two shades in the collection to try out and decided to visit Sorbet to try a third in Gelish:

♥ Ice Queen Anyone? To be honest, bronze shades have never been my favourite. Most tend to make my hands look a bit old and the tone doesn’t always sit well with my skin. Initially I didn’t think this shimmery copper shade would suit me, but after trying it on a few fingers I am reconsidering. It reminds me of a bronzier version of one of my favourite shades No Way Rosé (MT) so I think I’ll give it a try as a full manicure soon to see the true results.

♥ Lace ‘Em Up If social media is anything to go by, the beauty masses are loving this almost-black deep midnight blue. It’s certainly a perfect hue for winter and looks daring on toes too. Consider it the cool equivalent to the warmth of Black Cherry Berry (Gelish) or From Paris With Love (MT).

Tip Paint super carefully when choosing very dark shades like Lace ‘Em Up or you’ll end up with nails that look messy and ruin the chic look of a dark colour like this. And don’t forget a good base coat (I love Morgan Taylor React) unless you enjoy dark stains on your nails for daaaayyze after removing the colour.

Colours featured

♥ Flirt in a Skating Skirt I popped into Sorbet Paddocks in Cape Town to get a mani done and decided to go with this trendy steel blue hue in Gelish and am so pleased I did. It was a toss up between this and Figure 8s & Heartbreaks but in the end this won (but I’m definitely going back to try that too). It works so well on my nails and goes with anything, especially all the dark colours and denims I wear in winter.

Ice Cold Looks

The nail gurus at Morgan Taylor’s have also designed five winter-inspired looks for the new collection with a step-by-step tutorial for each of them. Fantasy on Ice is probably the easiest to replicate but how beautiful is Frozen Perfection? I may have to try my hand at create that beautiful sponged look the next time I get creative with my nails.
