It’s the month of love and whether you’re feeling giddy over someone special, flying solo and yolo, or hoping cupid’s arrow will hit you, you’re sure to appreciate a burst of red beauty in your life. The shade is a timeless makeup staple that never goes out of fashion, and Elizabeth Arden have some gorgeous reddy-to-wear Valentine’s makeup favourites to make all your loved up or femme fatale fantasies come true.

Red, She Said
I’ve rounded up four Valentine’s makeup favourites from Elizabeth Arden that are guaranteed to make a bold statement, whatever your mood or occasion.
♥ Elizabeth Arden Eyeshadow Trio in You Had Me At Merlot (R385) When I first came across this palette, I was petrified. Surely these kind of warm plummy and bronzed tones would make my skin look awful? Thanks to some great advice from Elizabeth Arden’s Celebrity National Makeup Artist Lucoh Mhlongo on taking any natural redness out of my skin first and start off slowly to gradually build colour, I’m managing to also build my confidence with this bold palette – watch this space!
♥ Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Liquid Lipstick in Fiery Red (R295) If you’re looking to make a statement, this lacquered lipstick is a winner. The switch mechanism makes it easy to disperse the perfect amount of product onto the soft, doe-like applicator, which makes precise application a breeze. It lasts beautifully well but lips will benefit from just a touch of Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (R285) or Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF20 PA++ (R215) before sweeping on your colour.
♥ Elizabeth Arden Plush Up Lip Gelato in Poppy Pout (R295) For something a little more sheer and super nourishing, my latest must-have is anything Gelato! Plum Perfect is one of my favourite everyday shades, but I adore the pop of colour in Poppy Pout when I’m looking for something bolder. Its orangey undertone is a total dream for my skin and it works perfectly with the lipliner too.
♥ Elizabeth Arden Plump Up Lip Liner in Fire Red (R225) Use this buttery liner on its own to fill in lips with a punch of colour, or to define them before applying Poppy Pout. I tend to fill in the rest of my lips with liner too rather than just the outside for two reasons: firstly, it intensifies the finished colour, and secondly, it makes it last longer and stops that tell-tale lip line effect happening when you eat or drink.
♥ Elizabeth Arden Sheer Kiss Lip Oil in Rejuvenate Red (R295) Topping off the list of Valentine’s makeup favourites: for quick lip love on the go and easy touch ups during the day, it doesn’t get better than this purse-friendly lip oil. The texture is sheer, yet buildable, and oh-so glossy and I just love the nifty squeeze applicator. It also works beautifully as a soft stain on lips, and you can use a touch on cheeks too for a soft flush of colour.
