I do so love rose scents (in fact it’s pretty clear from this post that anything rosey wins my heart) and when I stumbled upon the latest scent from Juicy Couture a couple of months ago while browsing some international blogs, I could hardly contain my excitement and anticipation of its arrival in SA. And it’s finally here!
Well hello there beautiful! Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Rosé EDP 100ml (R1150) and 50ml (R795) has just landed on our shores and you may recognise the rather famous face fronting the beautiful ad campaign – our very own Candice Swanepoel.
This Victoria’s Secret angel and local Mooi River beauty (her birthplace is certainly apt for her striking looks, she is très mooi) makes her debut for the brand in absolute style, and makes me want to recreate American Beauty’s bed of roses shot with petals of the palest pink. #WeekendGoals
I can only imagine the fun the creators had conceptualising this one and seeing it come to life. What first drew me to this new fragrance is the bottle – it’s a total glitterbomb, so beautifully adorned that it looks like it was beglittered (is it a word? Let’s make it one…) by ants carrying individual particles of glitter and lovingly depositing them from top to bottom. The design is also ombré with a delightful bright pink wash developing from the midst of the gold bottle and radiating upwards. To top off what truly is a glorious creation of design, the bold pink ribbon accessorised with a pretty jewelled charm sits beneath the crystal cap like a haute couture silk scarf wrapped beautifully around a model’s neck.
Even the pretty pink outer carton is ‘beglittered’ (come on, let’s make this word happen.)
Surprisingly, it’s not the overwhelmingly rosey scent I expected, which makes it far more accessible to the average gal who may like or even love roses but doesn’t necessarily want to smell like she’s been rolling around in a vat of freshly pressed rose oil (I personally can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to re-enact this particular fantasy, but then I’m floral obsessed). Far from being dominated by roses, it’s a delightfully fruity floral that offers a sparkling twist on the original scent. I feel it’s more a day fragrance than one for evenings, as I prefer something a littler warmer and more floral-oriental (especially in winter) but I can tell it’s going to be a favourite come spring, and I’m currently loving the sparkling cocktail of fruits and florals as a beautiful, everyday scent.
